During our trip to Billund, Denmark we excitingly visited the Aquadome at Lalandia and it was amazing fun! Before we visited I had heard good things about Lalandia and how it was an amazing place to visit whilst in Billund. I actually initially thought it was just a waterpark, but in fact, Lalandia is actually a huge holiday complex and park where you can spend your entire holiday should you wish to. As well as holiday homes that you can stay in there is a skating rink there as well as a ski slope, miniature golf, bowling, climbing walls, arcades, soft play, restaurants and more, plus of course the incredible Aquadome water park, which is what we visited during our in Billund.
The Aquadome is absolutely fantastic and has slides, a lazy river, a wave pool, a kids splash adventure playground, a toddler area, saunas, an outdoor pool, a jacuzzi and more! And it makes for a fantastic and fun way to spend a day in Billund. You don't have to be staying in Lalandia to visit, you can just visit for the day. Residential guests at Lalandia have free entry to the Aquadome, but if you are not staying in one of their holiday homes, you can still pay to enter the Aquadome. Prices are 299 DKK (around £34) per adults and for children (under 12) it's 249 DKK per child (around £28), children under 3 are free.
On arrival you are given a wristband that acts as a locker key as well as entry. One thing to note is that the changing rooms are split between male and females and I only saw one room that was for family changing. This wasn't a problem for us as Adam just took the boys into the male changing room and I went off to the female changing room. There aren't individual changing rooms as such and so people do just get fully nude which is a bit different to what we are used to in the UK, but it wasn't a problem and I just went and got changed in the toilet as that is what I felt comfortable with.
In terms of food, there is a food court inside the Aquadome where you can buy lunch, drinks and ice creams and then eat and drink on on the terrace there in your swimming costumes/towel. We bought a lovely vegetarian-friendly noodle bowl for our lunch, which was very tasty.
My boys, as you can tell from my instagram reel video below, absolutely LOVED the Aquadome, they didn't want to leave! They must have gone round the lazy river around 30+ times. They went on the slides and the children's water playarea over and over again. And they loved that there was an outdoor pool too!
Adam and Ethan absolutely loved all of the big slides too and went on them several times - there was so much to do!
One thing we missed whilst there was a secret cave pool where you can swim underneath and see tropical fish in an underwater tank in front of you that also joins on to near where the bowling at Lalandia is. We only noticed after we had left the Aquadome and we walked past the bowling and saw the tropical fish tank and then people swimming on the other side of it looking at the fish. It was a really cool feature, so do look out for the cave pool if you visit!
After swimming, we spent about an hour at the nearby arcade and that was really good fun! And then afterwards we went for dinner at Ristorante Bambino which is an Italian all you can eat buffet at Lalandia up the stairs as you first come in. They have good vegetarian options available and great all round options for both adults and kids and you also get free access to the adjoining kids soft play for the price too, which the boys' loved. One of the things I most loved about Lalandia is the theming where the restaurants are - when you walk in you feel like you're transported to another place. There's a fake sky above you and everything is dimly lit, so it feels really cosy!
We had a really lovely day at Lalandia and we are so glad that we visited during our trip to Billund. You can find out more about visiting the Aquadome at Lalandia over at https://www.lalandia.dk/en/billund/go-exploring/the-aquadome.
