If you caught my Disneyland Paris in One Day blog post you will have seen that we recently visited Disneyland Paris whilst staying at the amazing Villages Nature Paris. We also went for a 4 day trip back in 2018 when our children were 3 and 5 and so I thought it would be good to share some insight in the form of some tips in case you are planning to visit yourself soon or in the future. I hope you will find some of these tips helpful and good to know before you go!
Disneyland Paris Top Tips - Know before you go!
- Plan your time at Disneyland Paris. Group rides together by parks and zones to avoid wasting time park hopping) and tick them off on your phone notes as you go. Ensure you think about timings for any parades, character meets, shows or breaks for lunch and dinner.
- Download the Disneyland Paris app which has a handy map of the park on. You can also see ride wait times on there which will help when planning which rides to go on first. The app also shows when rides are closed.
- Check the opening and closing times before you go and remember you get an extra early magic hour if you are staying in a Disney Hotel Ensure you arrive early as the queues to get in the park get long early!
- Hire a buggy or taken with you if you have young children, their legs will thank you for it and also you'll be much likely to make it to the fireworks in the evening if your children aren't totally wiped out by all of the walking.
- Take lots of snacks with you to keep you and the kids going and to save money.
- Take water bottles with you and refill them from the taps around the park.
- Remember sunscreen, sun hats and maybe a hand held fan (for the queues) if you're visiting when it's warm.
- Make dinner reservations early if you want to eat at select Disney restaurants and don't want to be disappointed. Dining reservations usually get booked up months in advance.
- Don't miss the dragon under the castle and the Christmas shop in the castle is also amazing!
- Remember to take a portable phone charger with you in case you unexpectedly run out of battery from taking lots of photos and video!
- Take a backpack, it's much easier for a day in the parks and means you'll have your hands free.
- Use the single rider queues. Wait time for rides at Disneyland are often long, if you want to cut down your queue times and you don't mind riding without your family / friends, then use the single rider queues on rides such as: Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain, RC Racer, Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop, Crush’s Coaster and Ratatouille: The Adventure.
- Make time to visit Disney Village. Disney Village is so worth visiting, there's a great atmosphere there and it's nice for a break from the parks even if it's just for 30 minutes-hour. We love the LEGO store there and there's also a many dining options there too such as Planet Hollywood, Vapiano, Rainforest cafe, McDonald's, Annette's Diner, Five Guys and many more, as well as places for a drink and a relax like Starbucks. On our first visit to DLP, we loved Earl of Sandwich for lunch which is also at the Disney Village.
To get a beautiful Disney Castle photo, go to the left of the castle where you can get the full castle in shot with not many other people in the background. We usually ask someone who is taking photos themselves to snap one of us as a family and then we of course return the favour.
- Don't worry if you don't speak French as most members of staff speak English.
- Wear comfortable shoes (trainers are the best option as there is a LOT of walking!).
