If you’re looking to give your bathroom a makeover then it’s important to consider just how much work it might take. You might not have enough time or experience to do a complete renovation, but you’re probably skilled enough to perform basic improvements such as replacing furniture or laying new tiles. If you’re looking to improve your bathroom as a DIY enthusiast, then you might be pleased to know that you can do so without spending too much money.
In this post, we’ll be covering some of those great bathroom renovation tips.
Get rid of your bathroom tiles and replace them with panels
Perhaps one of the cheapest and most practical bathroom renovations you could do is replace tiles with panels. Far too many of us consider tiles to be the standard when it comes to renovating bathrooms, but the reality is that they’re inconvenient and pretty annoying to install. Tiles need grout, they need to be cut to size, and you need to do a bit of math to work out how many you need. Tiles can also be fairly expensive and you might need some spares if you ever damage one or if you cut one the wrong size.
The solution is to use panels. But why use shower panels instead of tiles? One of the biggest reasons is that they're easier to install. Instead of trying to line up small tiles, panels are much bigger and can easily be cut to size. They also don’t need grout, they’re less maintenance, and they come in loads of unique patterns and shapes. Lastly, they’re also very affordable compared to tiles, making them a fantastic DIY option.
Adding shelves and hanging storage
If your bathroom has a lot of wall space then why not start using it for shelves and hanging racks? It’s a fantastic idea for any budget DIY makeover and they’re incredibly easy to install because all you’re doing is drilling some holes and putting up a shelf. It’s simple, quick, and adds a lot of functionality to your bathroom. You can even get rid of existing shelves or racks if you want to upgrade them to have more storage.
This extra storage can be a great place for decor as well. Placing a few plants around can add a nice touch of colour to the room, and you might be surprised at how much additional space you’ll have for interesting toiletries.
Pick a wall and make it pretty
Some people find that having lots of colourful walls in their bathroom can be a bit too loud. It’s distracting and doesn’t look very nice unless you’re an expert in interior design. But what if you just picked a single wall instead?
Pick just one of your walls and add unique designs to it. Change the panels or wallpaper, add some hanging decorations, and consider painting it as well. This adds a unique statement wall to your bathroom that can be completely personalised to your liking. It’ll look fantastic, it’ll stand out without making your entire bathroom look strange, and it’s a great way to express yourself through art as well.
