When I'm not with my two little boys or blogging, on Instagram or making videos for my youtube channel you'll likely find me either cuddling my cats, watching history programmes or playing a game that I've been playing on and off now for the last 15 years - World of Warcraft!
If you've not heard of it already then World Of Warcraft is an MMO which means it's a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game. The game allows you to customise and create a character to explore the open game world with and as you begin to level up you fight various mobs and bosses and complete quests. To take down really hard bosses in zones called instances, dungeons or raids, you generally have to work together with other players in the game and if you want to then you can even join a guild with other people. Whilst it's a game that like a lot of games do, does seem to a majority male player base, World of Warcraft does attract quite a number of 'girl gamers' too, and I am very proud to be one of them!
At the end-game stage, you can be logging on twice a week to do something called a 'raid' where with 39 other real life players you try to defeat some of the hardest bosses in the game to get loot (better armour and weapons to make your character more powerful). To do this you talk using a platform called Discord which allows you to actually speak to the other people in your guild through your headset to work together. For this, I was recently very kindly sent a HyperX Cloud Stinger Core Wireless headset which has come in so handy! The Cloud Stinger Core wireless headset is so comfortable to wear whilst gaming and it also has a noise-cancelling microphone so it makes communicating with other players whilst raiding a total breeze! Plus it comes in my favourite colour! ;)
The gaming mouse I use is the HyperX Pulsefire Core Gaming Mouse and it's super comfortable to play with and also very precise and of course, it has the all important side buttons, which if you're a gamer yourself you'll know how important they are for extra keybindings whilst playing!
I also have the stunning HyperX Alloy Core Wired gaming keyboard and I love it! It has six different lighting effects and three brightness levels and it's also spill resistant which is a bonus.
It's hard to sum up a game like World of Warcraft and if you've never heard of it, I'm sure you'd be a bit like 'eh?', but it truly is a great game that offers a bit of escapism and also there's a great social side to it. Adam and I play together which in itself is amazing, because it's a hobby we share as a couple, but also we've been fortunate enough to actually make some in real life friends through playing that we've actually met up with.
My gaming hobby is quite a bit different to blogging, YouTube, and being on Instagram but I think it's really nice and important to have a mix of interests and hobbies, especially so over the last 12 months that we've been through.
When I'm not gaming on World of Warcraft, I also love to game with my boys on our Nintendo Switch. The boys are massively into Zelda and Mario games, but it's Super Smash Bro's for me! I think it's a perfect family game, though we do all get a bit competitive - haha, and I am usually beaten by my 7 and 5 year old, but even so - I love it!
We also have two HyperX Cloud Stinger Core headsets and these are perfect for both adults and children to wear and for use on a PC/Mac or for console gaming, as is the same for the HyperX Wireless headset that I use for Warcraft. These particularly headsets are super lightweight and very comfortable to wear and the sound is really immersive!
We love playing games together as a family - I think gaming is a great way to bond and do something that everyone can enjoy and have fun with together.
Do you enjoy gaming? Are there any particular games that you or your children play?
If you are currently on the lookout for any gaming accessories then head over to Argos to check out HyperX!
