A few weeks ago we decided to change up our youngest little boy Logan's bedroom. I'd been craving a bit of a project to work on in the house and Logan's room was certainly one that we had room to improve especially so as we'd just sort of moved Logan in there after our house extension when we had moved Ethan into the bigger room.
With Logan's room, our goal was to give him some more space. With all of the rooms in our home, we like to make sure that we are making the most of the space that we have available. And for Logan's room that meant upgrading his IKEA lack table and kids chairs to a desk that could stay with him until he's a teenager. To give us the space for a desk for him, we decided to finally let go of the wide chest of drawers that we'd had since before Ethan was even born. I loved the chest of drawers a lot, but they were taking up a lot of space we could have been using better. We also upgraded his wardrobe from a double to a triple and we thought his lego and toy storage to manage it more effeciently.
Whilst making the changes to his bedroom we also decided to redecorate. Logan's room had been painted an off white grey steel colour before, but we decided to do a duck egg blue colour block to his bedroom walls and also add some decals that I found on etsy for super cheap. And I absolutely love the result!
Below are some photos of his finished room and also a video of the whole makeover if you are interested in seeing that.
The wall decals are one of my favourite additions to his room, they were cheap and really easy to do and they've made such a difference to the room. Logan and I also made some Lego letters to spell out his name using Lego bricks that we already had. And I think it adds a nice colourful, personal bit of decor to his shelf.
The desk we decided to go for was one we sort of put together ourselves, buying the bits for it separately. We used the IKEA Alex drawers and then a grey desk top with a simple desk leg. We have the Alex drawers in our office and they are amazing for storage! At first, I had wanted a white desk but they had none left in stock so we went for the grey and actually I really love it and it also matches his new wardrobe doors which we changed.
We got two new bookshelves for his room and these are from Argos. I love them because they hold a lot of books and they look great. With our new space, we also had room to bring Logan's kitchen into his bedroom from downstairs which was a bonus!
We kept Logan's existing IKEA Pax wardrobe, but we turned it into a triple wardrobe and changed the doors to this grey gloss pax doors to suit his new room decor. I absolutely love that we've been able to increase the size of his wardrobe as the Pax wardrobe holds so much inside of it. You can custom design the layout of the wardrobe by buying differrent inserts for it and it really does just hide a lot away. We have all of his clothes inside of it and then on the new single side that we added on to it, we've got a lot of hid toys organised in it too.
We also went for the Trofast storage system (can you tell we're fans of IKEA, haha?). I know it doesn't look the best, but it is incredible for extra storage and absolutely perfect for storing Lego, of which we have tons! The tubs all pull out and we've used the top two tubs for smaller Lego pieces. We have one exactly the same in Ethan's room and so far it's the best Lego storage I've found for the boys.
Another thing that we did was buy Logan a rug for his room. We only wanted something small so that he still had hard floor space to do his lego and play cars, but we wanted something soft for the boys to sit on whilst they played and I love this new rug which we got from the rugseller.co.uk. The last new additions to his room were a little bedside table which is actually a little stool that we picked up on Amazon and a couple of new bedding sets for his bed (the one in the photo is from John Lewis).
We didn't change his bed as we really like all being able to sit on it and read stories together and it actually has a pull out drawer underneath which can fit a single mattress on so it'll be ideal as he gets older and has friends come to stay or for us to use a guest best for when we have people over to stay.
I absolutely love the end result of his bedroom makeover. The furniture was such a good investment as it will stay with him until he's a teenager - we will only need to change up his decor to suit his age. I'm so pleased that we did his bedroom and I love the colour block on the walls and the decals too. It's such a cosy, chilled room to hang out in and it's exactly as I hoped it would be.
