If you’re a regular reader of my posts, you’ll know much I love interior design and renovating our home. We’ve recently completed a lot of building work on our home, including an extension and complete garden renovation. It was a long process but I’m so happy with the results and the personal touches we have included around the house. When it comes to interior design, I like to keep up to date with the trends and apply these where possible in our home. I’ve recently been looking into the 2019 design trends and thought I’d share some of them with you, in case you’re planning on giving your home a makeover.
Whether your home is modern or not, there’s nothing stopping you bringing it to life and keeping up with the trends. For any fans of the hit TV show Father Ted, Chill Insurance have combined the living room featured in the show and some modern design trends so show how any room can be modernised.
Adding a splash of colour to your home
The colours used within your home can really bring it to life and give the interior a personal touch. The colour of your walls is one of the first things to be seen when entering the home and this year’s colour trends can help create an eye-catching feel.
Due to its soft look and ability to match with a variety of other colours, pale pink is predicted to be a popular colour choice this year. Complimented well with lemon yellow and white, this colour combination makes the perfect pallet for a hallway or small area of your home. Other colours expected to be popular this year are pastel blues, forest greens and soft terracotta’s.
Updating your furniture
The furniture within any home is undoubtedly one of the statement areas which finish off the interior design. When it comes to furniture, your choices are endless. Shapes, sizes, colours, the list is endless; but what are this year’s recommendations?
Curvy designs are becoming more popular in 2019, with rounded back chairs being high on the wish list. Handmade custom pieces can also make a big difference in your home, whether it be breakfast bar stools or coffee tables, there’s a lot you can do with handmade furniture. For less expensive ideas and ones that contain smaller, more delicate detail, focus on upholstery. Small details like stitching, seams and colour on different fabric can make a big difference against beds and sofas.
Bringing your home to life doesn’t have to cost a lot
If you’re planning on sprucing up your home then it’s best to focus on one room at a time and not take on too much. Don’t be put off by the prospect of decorating your home, as it doesn’t have to cost a lot. By simply giving the walls a lick of paint and changing cushion covers can make a huge difference; as well as adding plants and even upcycling old furniture.
I hope this post has shared some useful information and tips for 2019 design trends and it would be great to hear if you’re planning on renovating or giving your home a makeover.
