My life has changed for the better since having the boys, I am so much more of a happier, more content person. Of course, life's frantic and busy and not everyday is smooth. In fact it's a rare if a day totally is. But being a Mum has brought so much to my life and my boys are my biggest motivation. Saying that, I am a massive believer in having time to recharge from time to time. After all you can't pour from an empty cup can you? Motherhood is about giving A LOT of the time and as rewarding as being a Mum is, it's naturally sometimes draining when you are constantly giving your all all of the time.
We're extremely lucky in that my in-laws often offer to have the boys over to their house. It's amazing because it means that the boys have a great bond with their Grandparents and it's also great because it gives Adam and I time to catch up on things that we need to do, like work or things in the house. Last weekend though, Adam and I took the opportunity to spend some time on us, as on Sunday we celebrated six years of being married and sixteen years of being together (coming this October).
For Father's Day this year the boys had got Adam a Buyagift voucher for a three course meal with a bottle of wine at our favourite restaurant - Prezzo and also a sixty minute flying experience. Adam's always wanted to have the opportunity to fly a plane and so it was the perfect, different sort of gift and he was chuffed.
We decided to use his voucher on Friday and went for the Prezzo meal just us. It was such a well-needed evening. We laughed A LOT, drank wine, ate good food and just relaxed for a few hours. After everything we've been going through with the house renovations this year and also my health problems, it was really nice to just take that time out and not worry about anything for a while.
The next morning we drove over to Wycombe Air Park for Adam's flying experience and despite being late because of two road closures that Apple maps hadn't picked up, the staff there were super friendly and understanding and told us not to worry and that Adam could still have his full session, which was really kind of them.
Adam said that the flying experience itself was incredible, especially as he got to fly over the town that we were born in, grew up in and met each other in and also places that we've been to before like Waddesdon Manor which is a stunning National Trust property. I'm so pleased that he loved it so much - I think as we're getting older we're learning that experiences often make for the best sorts of gifts, as it's memories like these that will last a lifetime.
Thank you for reading.

Oh wow the flying experience looks amazing! I think it's so important to spend time together and the food looks yummy
ReplyDeleteIt's so sweet what you said about becoming a mum - a lot of people say becoming a mum can really make a person and I think that's a really lovely thing. I never used to want kids but after we lost my mum and my sister had my niece (even though she never wanted kids either!) I can totally understand the benefit now; having a child gives purpose to your life!
ReplyDeleteIt's also important to take time to yourselves too and it looks like you had a lovely little break together x
Oh wow this sounds like an amazing experience! I can't imagine what it is like to get to fly a plane (but hands up I would give it a try) and that food looks absolutely delicious.
