I never really used a carrier with Ethan when he was younger - I have scoliosis (a curvature of the spine) and so didn't want to add any unnecessary pressure or further any pain to my back and then there was the fact that there wasn't really a great need to have one, since I could push Ethan around in the pram. The age gap between Logan and Ethan means that we're at that funny age with Ethan where he's okay to walk pretty much all of the time, but then he still gets tired after a little while. There are a couple of things we could invest in to help with this - a buggy board and/or a baby carrier (to carry Logan around in, so that Ethan can use the pram). I'd heard good things about the BabyBjorn carriers and always thought that they looked really comfy and easy to use, so we've gone for the carrier option.
The carrier we have is the BabyBjorn Baby Carrier One. It is suitable from birth all the way up to three years old apparently (though personally, I'm not sure that I'd like to try and carry Ethan (aged two and half, in it for too long with my back!). Saying that - it is actually really comfy to wear because of the padded shoulder straps and the adjustable waist belt which both help to relieve any pressure on my back when I carry Logan in it.
It can be worn in four different positions including a special position for newborns and then has the options to carry your child facing inwards, outwards or carried on your back (depending on their age). What I like a lot about this carrier is the fact that I feel like I can trust it 100% when it comes to Logans posture and the support it gives his head, back and hips, as it says that it was developed with paediatricians to ensure the best sort of support for the babies that use it.
These photos were taken the first time I wore it, Logan was just a couple of weeks old and I sort of feel like he looks a bit swamped in it, though in reality - he actually seemed really comfortable in it and drifted straight off to sleep. Now he's a bit bigger and chunkier (he likes his milk bless him!), he looks a lot less swamped. Overall, I really like the BabyBjorn Carrier One and think it really deserves the good reputation and reviews that it has! Available from babybjorn.co.uk. *Item sent for review, all opinions are, as always, entirely my own.
I'm a huge fan of BabyBjorn and he looks so snug in that carrier - so tiny too! x
