The recent warmer weather here in the UK is a welcome sight to many people, as the cold bite of Winter turns into a distant memory. But for those who prefer the winter over the summer, there's always the option of visiting a holiday destination where the cold weather sticks around throughout the year.
And if it's winter activities you're after, then places like Iceland and Lapland have lots to offer as this Alternative Winter Activities blog post from LV= points out. There's so much to do and it's not just all about the skiing activities. Here's a rundown of just some of the other activities that these countries have to offer..
Lapland
- Husky Sledding
- Sleigh Rides
- Ice Fishing
- Snowmobile Safaris
Iceland
- Whale Watching
- Caving
- Visiting the Blue lagoon
- Visiting the Waterfalls
For me personally, Iceland would be much more appealing than Lapland - purely because of the different activities on offer. Ice fishing and husky sledding in Lapland isn't something I'd want to do. But some of the things that I'd be able to do and experience in Iceland would be absolutely amazing, in particular whale watching and visiting the waterfalls - what an experience both of them would be! Whale watching would probably be my favourite if I'm honest, being that I'm a huge animal lover. I'd love to see the whales in their natural environment and to just be able to stand and observe them from afar. I hope this is something that at some point in my life, I'll be able to tick off of my 'I've done or experienced that' list.
Where would you choose to visit? Lapland or Iceland? And what one activity out of the above mentioned would you choose to do?
