If you're like me and you love your modern decor, you might be afraid that adding anything vintage or retro to it could take away from the contemporary feel you work so hard to achieve. Today I want to prove that this isn't necessarily the case. By adding just a touch of retro, you can really enhance a room and even give it a little pop of character. And you can do this without overwhelming the decor and/or changing the feel of the room completely. Here are some retro web finds that I feel would work really well..
Ah, who remembers the typewriter? My Mum used to own a typewriter and she would be forever on it tapping away writing short stories and poems. She inspired my love of writing and reading and so a typewriter, for me, holds a sentimental value as well as looking subtly retro. It would be the perfect vintage touch to a study/workspace area.

Gone are the days when I'd blast tunes from my radio, now I have a high-tech bluetooth speaker and failing that - my iPhone. I used to spend many an hour listening to my radio and whenever I see radios like this, they take me right back to my childhood. This would look awesome in any kitchen to add a subtle retro touch.

When I spotted this toilet roll cover, I thought it was perfect for not only those looking to add a retro touch to their home, but for us bloggers too (who seem to be forever taking photos)! ;) I think that it would make for a great, quirky addition to any bathroom.

Oh the old style corded telephones! It's not about cords anymore, most house phones are now cordless and a lot less chunky with no rotary dial to be seen. It's not uncommon for people looking for a retro/vintage touch to invest in one of these. They're quite easy to get your hands on and most come at a reasonable price too.

I just love the retro fridges from Husky! They're pretty much the coolest undercounter household retro fridges around. With their 50's inspired designs, tempered glass shelves, shimmering silver trim and retro style curved reversible doors and cabinets, which come in ivory as above, red or black. These fridges go with any style of decor, including the modern/contemporary feel, and add real retro-inspired character to any kitchen.
Ah some great picks hun, I love everything x

We have one of those radios on our kitchen side, I love a bit of retro! x
ReplyDeleteI love it all. I am always on the look out for vintage things. My new interest is a 1960's Dressing Table, but they seem to be massive. x
ReplyDeleteLove this kind of post from you Alex! x
