Today is the 1st of December and the countdown to Christmas has now officially begun (yay!). I am all about the christmas cheer and the festive spirit, but after receiving what was a pretty huge unexpected water bill through the post yesterday, it has made me stop and think about how much all of us use our utilities every single day and especially so during the christmas period and winter time.
My Four Walls (an energy saving company) have actually just released an interesting infographic about energy use at Christmas time, which really does make you sort of stop and think. It doesn't serve to make you feel like you shouldn't put the christmas tree lights on at all or turn your heating off all together. It's just there as an interesting and simple reminder that for every minute we use energy (or too much water in my case - whoops damn pressure washer!) it will cost us. If you'd like to, you can get lots of useful advice on saving money on your energy bills here.
