Aren't family days just the best?! We had a fantastic day out at Willen Lake in Milton Keynes today, it was the first time we'd ever been. I seem to have a thing about lakes - I just think they're really beautiful. We actually have our first family Holiday booked for the end of September; a week away in the Lake District -- we went for our Honeymoon and loved it, so it'll be amazing to travel back there again this time with Ethan.
We've been looking for a baby carrier to take with us to the Lake District and were recently very kindly sent Chicco's You and Me baby carrier to review so we took it with us today to give it a test run. Here's what we thought..
Chicco You and Me Baby Carrier
My first impression before even putting this carrier on was that it was made from good quality material. I could tell right away that this was the type of material and design of a baby carrier that I would feel happy putting my baby into - I know it would be safe.
I have to admit we found the instructions a little bit confusing- it would have been nice if they had been a little clearer to understand. The instructions consisted of pictures rather then text and I found some of the pictures a bit bedazzling if I'm honest. To be honest though, it wasn't particularly difficult to work out how the carrier went together and what straps attached to what. We got there in the end, and once we knew how, it was actually really simple!
Chicco's You and Me baby carrier has 2 carrying positions, both are on the front. I was initially a little disappointed that we couldn't carry Ethan on our backs but actually the fact that he can face forward on the front carrying position was good enough as Ethan loves to look around when he's outside, so this was perfect for that!
Putting Ethan into the carrier was easy and stress-free. He seemed to be really comfortable and was so happy that he was able to be able to have a look about. We tried another cheaper baby carrier a couple of months ago that we brought ourselves, and it was so awkward. Ethan was totally uncomfortable in it, it was a pain to get him in and out and the material rubbed on him leaving a red mark after just a couple of minutes - it's safe to say we didn't use it again! But with the Chicco baby carrier, we didn't experience this at all.
Ethan is a big baby and is quite heavy, so I don't think I could wear him in this for hours because it would start to hurt my back and shoulders. But that isn't anything personal to this carrier - I think it would be the same in any baby carrier. He's just a lump! (He was 9lb 9oz at birth!)
Overall I am really pleased our Chicco baby carrier. Ethan loved being in it and I found myself getting that same feeling I did when I was proudly walking around with my big pregnancy bump, but this time it was me proudly walking around with my lovely baby attached to me. We got so many smiles from passers by, it totally reminded me of being pregnant!
The Chicco You and Me Baby Carrier can be used from birth up to a maximum child weight of 11kgs. It is currently priced at £39.95 on amazon here. You can also find out more about Chicco and their products over on their website.

Aww what lovely pictures :D
ReplyDeleteWhen we went on holiday to Yarmouth a couple of months ago, I considered buying a baby carrier. Nathan talked me out of it though as he thought it would be bad for my back and he wasn't keen on the idea of using it himself either. Part of me wishes I had bought one now but Oscar is quite heavy so I don't think I'd manage having him strapped to me, when he's wriggling around (which he does a lot) I find it difficult to keep a hold on him as it is :p

Lovely photos of you all, I love the family photo too. I have never used a sling or carrier, we do have two but it's my hubby that wears them instead! x
ReplyDeleteAwwww gorgeous photos!!!! :) Glad you had a nice day out!
ReplyDeleteThe baby carrier looks fab, great that you can wear him front facing too - you can't do that with ours and I think Tyne would prefer it.
I don't wear it much coz I do get a sore back easily, but I know what you mean - when I do wear it I am so reminded of pregnancy!
